General Information

PIANO OHIO is a competition for high school students, grades 9 - 12, that is sponsored by the Cleveland International Piano Competition. Juried auditions will be held at three locations in March 2008. Six finalists will be chosen to perform in Cleveland for a Final Round Jury comprised of Competition laureates who are currently enjoying international careers. The final round will be held on April 26, 2008 at 2:00PM at Cleveland State University's Drinko Hall. It will be open to the public and broadcast on WCLV FM 104.9 in Cleveland.

PRIZES
Cash prizes include:
- 1st prize - $1,000
- 2nd prize - $750
- 3rd prize - $500
- Finalist prizes - $250 (three awarded)
All participants of the PIANO/OHIO Competition will receive:
- A compact disc featuring performances by the four laureates from the 2007 Cleveland International Piano Competition.
Six finalists will receive:
- Dinner at Drinko Hall with the jury following the Finals. Each finalist will have an opportunity to speak with each of the jury members about his/her performance.
- An invitation to participate as a Junior Jury member of the 2009 Cleveland International Piano Competition.

Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 2:00PM Drinko Hall at Cleveland State University
REPERTOIRE
Each student is required to perform 3 selections with a total performance time of 18 to 20 minutes. Two works must be chosen from the list of composers below. A third work may also be from the list below or by a composer of the student's choice. The same repertoire will be performed for auditions and finals.

| RULES AND REGULATIONS
- All applicants must be residents of Ohio.
- All applicants must be in grades 9-12.
- All works must be played from memory.
- No substitution of works is permitted. The works listed on the application form must be performed.
- The six finalists will combine their repertoire from the qualifying and semi-final rounds.
- The decision of the jury is final with no appeal.
- Candidates should not expect to receive a written critique from the jury members.
- Candidates will not engage in discussions with jury members until after decisions are reached.
- All announced prizes will be awarded.
- Any jury member who currently teaches a candidate will abstain from voting for that candidate.
- The Competition will make every effort to schedule each competitor at the location and time preferred for the qualifying found. The Competition officials reserve the right, however, to assign competitors in order to balance the number of performers at each location.
- If unexpected situations arise in the execution of these guidelines, the jury chair and Competition officials reserve the right to resolve such situations.
